September Computer Tip
Unfortunately the software that is loaded on to your computer when you purchase it does not go happily along sans problems for the rest of its life.
What happens, for example, is that one day when you go to access the Internet you can no longer get on. The problem is often that the software that runs your modem has had a minor crise de coeur and refuses to run.
When I arrive and ask for the driver software to reinstall the software, I often find that there is no such software in the house. This is either because the not so reputable dealer who sold you the computer and/or software didn’t give you the disc with the software on it or your computer was handed on to you by a friendly friend, relative or neighbour and they kept the original software for themselves. We won’t get into the legalities of passing on software, save to say that it is verboten.
What you should do is always ask for the appropriate software for your sound card, video card, modem, printer and any other extras that came with your computer. Otherwise you may find that your computer will in future be very handy as an anchor – I leave its use to your very vivid imaginations.
